Heater Core
As of February I was ready to start putting the engine compartment back together. I just received new heater hoses from LMC and decided to check the heater core before installing. I removed heater box cover and repainted but the core did not want to come out and I couldnt find any bolts or fasteners to remove.
Not knowing how to remove core I decided to test it in place. I connected the old hoses to the core, plugged one of the free ends and connected the other free end to a regulator set at 10 PSI. When I put air to this setup I heard hissing BAD HEATER CORE.
The old hose fittings have shut off valves on them, I thought they were closed and could be opened. I tried to open the valve but no water came out. I took the fitting off the manifold and it is corroded shut. One more thing to buy.
I never used the heater, I assumed it worked and the shutoffs in on the hose fitting were turned off. When I removed the heater box I discovered the core was loose from the mounting bracket. It appears that someone tried to pry the core out without removing box.
Wood grain heater box cover
Rust removed, painted and put back together.
Ebay heater box purchased for $35.00 which included shipping!
Cleaned up good heater core.
Heater box put together
Heater Box mounted in cab.
I had two covers that I airbrushed wood grain Brown Wood Green Wood
Installed with lengthened wires and quick connects for inline fuse that will replace fusible link I broke. The heater hoses get buried at the fire wall by the battery holder.

Hi, Rick, how you doing? Nice works and upgrade on the intake manifold and on the parking brake lever. Your truck is looking good as ever. Keep it up with that classic. Still 5 BIG stars! Cheers!
