~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 11/16/07-MagnaFlow Performance Muffler
My friend had one that his buddy had gave to him and he didn't need it so he gave it to me. It was used on BMW race cars on drag strips and the quality is really good. It's a little dirty but it sounds great. I finally got a sound clip up so you can hear what it sounds like. (It kinda sounds bad on this clip, I don't know why. Maybe it has to do with the car being cold or something, I dunno. It sounds alot better on my "Videos" page; make sure you check it out there!)
Installation Tips- Make sure you have all the right tools for the job. A grinder works great for getting the old muffler off and cuts through exhaust with fairly little effort. If you can, use a welder! Bolt-ons will often leak and give a raspy exhaust sound. Take your time with the weld; start the car after you have finished, hold your hand close to (not on) the weld and check to see if you have any leaks before putting the welder away. Welding is a stronger hold and I would strongly recommend it over simply bolting a muffler on.
After grinding off my old stock muffler, we welded the new one on. Here are some shots.
Some other shots from around the back. I love the look, the sound is fantastic and the best part...it was free. Just about an hour or so to grind and weld the new one on.
11/14/07-Cold Air Intake
I finally got my cold air intake shipped and boy is it a piece of crap. My friends and I had to "doctor" the intake so much because it would not fit my car. We had to cut off at least three inches off the end of the pipe and cut and shorten the arm to secure the intake. It came out great but it took alot of work. Thankfully, the whole project only cost me about 48 bucks and took around 5 hours. It was so worth it.
Installation Tips- Be patient! This job took me about 6 hours to finish due to a horribly made product that didn't fit my car. Remember, nothing is that important and getting pissed off (like I did) doesn't solve anything. Also, I have found that putting a ring clamp around where the filter attaches to the intake pipe is a great way to prevent it from falling off. Even if you have a good cold-air intake now or even just a high flow filter, adding that ring clamp would be a great idea. No one wants the filter flying off while driving down the road...
The intake attached to the manifold and a shot from the top.
Other shots of my engine compartment now. It looks so much better... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
10/20/07-Magnecor Performance Ignition Wires. When I bought my car, the man I bought it from had these Magnecor Wires for it and he included them with the car. I can feel the car runs a bit smoother and they dress up my engine bay a little bit.
Installation Tips- Not much to say here, pretty much plug and play. The only thing to watch out for is to make sure to push both ends of the wire firmly onto the ignition coil and over the spark plug. You don't want any bad sparks and a crappy ride caused by poor wiring.
These were taken before I got my cold-air intake, hence the plastic intake covering the wires.
Here is an up-to-date shot
