~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3/12/08-Spring Break at Daytona! We went to Daytona Beach for our spring break this year and it was absolutly wonderful! However, we were not allowed to drive on the beach ( It was too late in the evening) but I did stop to take some pictures with the beautiful Florida sun! Here are just some simple shots of my car, along with one of my friend Levi's car!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 12/20/07-Car Wash It was time; my car was in desperate need of a car wash. Leaves, dirt and bird crap had taken over and I was fed up with having to look at it every day. So I took the time and washed my car and here are some pictures afterwards. It looks so much better... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 11/16/07-MagnaFlow Performance Muffler
This update is on my Engine/Performance page too but since it affected the cars appearance, I wanted to add it here as well. Here are some shots of the new MagnaFlow muffler.
10/24/07-New right headlight housing / 7000k Headlight bulbs. My right headlight housing was clouded over and was almost useless for seeing at night. I bought this OEM right headlight housing off Ebay for 48 dollars including shipping. I love the new clear look and it really helps my vision at night. The bulbs that I bought were from some crappy Ebay company and the bulbs were from Hilite Industries. They suck, do not buy them! The bulbs are not any brighter than my stock lights. In fact, they seem to be dimmer overall but they do give the car a nice, white beam while driving at night. Thats the only high point.
Installation Tips- Don't waste your money on high-performance lighting unless it is from a reputable source. I bought these lights thinking they would be alot brighter. They are exactly the same brightness as my old bulbs and I am kinda upset that I bought them. I would recommend new Silverstar Ultra headlights from Sylvania. They retail for around 40 bucks(depending on where you shop) but greatly improve visibility while giving a nice, bright white beam of light. I plan on getting these as soon as I get some money.
I forgot to take a picture of the old/new housings before I installed them but here are the shots before and after the bulbs were installed.
The full effect...
10/20/07-Blacked-out marker lights This was a very simple but wonderful mod I did to my car. All I did was tape off my marker lights with painters tape, clean the lights, add newspaper to prevent wild sprays and lightly coat my marker lights with Nite-Shades paint. My friends and I got this for about 7 dollars at the local AutoZone and used not even the whole can for about 6 light/marker jobs. Good amount of paint for the money and nothing is worse than the stock orange color.
Installation Tips- I was very nervous about spraying my car with paint, due to the possibility of messing it up. Having a white car didn't help my nerves either. I was very impressed with the tape that I used (Scotch Blue painters tape) and I would recommend it to anyone doing any kind of exterior(or interior) painting. Just tape the area off very well and take your time getting all the areas covered. Also, be sure to use many, many LIGHT coats of paint. I cannot stress this enough; large quantities of paint at once will run and leave horrible looking cracks on the area you are trying to paint. Take your time with coating the area and don't put too much on at once. You cannot be too careful but if you are, the reward will be a great finished product.
My supplies, Nite-Shades paint and Scotch Blue painters tape
Not many pictures (I forgot to take pics during the taping/spraying process) but here are both sides, finished.
Some other angle shots...
