Tune Up

Its time to get this car running better than ever. Currently theres some things wrong with it right now. I'm going to take care of it all in one big part swap that will consist of the following:
Optima Red Top 12V Battery 720 Cold Cranking Amps
Summit High Output Ignition Coils 40,000v(3)
Melling Replacement Oil Pump
NGK TR6 Spark Plugs(6)
MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Spark Plug Wires
Fram Fuel Filter
NTK Oxygen Sensor
High Output 160 amp alternator
I'm also going to wire up a manual fan switch
Before all of this is done, I am going to flush out everything with some seafoam, like I was going to do a while ago.
2-8-09 I just bought all of the above, I'll be getting those later. Everything should be here within the next couple days.
2-12-09 Heres some of the things that I've gotten so far.
2-18-09 I finished the plugs, wires, coils, alternator, and battery today.

The Product of my Labor
So far I have done the Spark Plugs, Wires, Ignition Coils, Alternator, and Battery. Here are some pics.

You think these plugs might be a little bit old? I snapped one in half while trying to get it out.
Out with the old, In with the new.

This is after I had taken the old alternator out, ready to put the new one in.
Here is the new look of the engine bay versus what it looked like when I got the car.

I decided to do a little throttle body cleaning today, so here it is:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heres what I used: Shop towels($2.77), Simple Green($4.99, once again ;), a new TB intake gasket($4.99), and you will need a socket set
I began by removing all of the intake: Elbow, tubing, and the airbox, that part is pretty easy, you just gotta loosen the clamps.
I then unclipped all wiring attatched to the Throttle Body.
After that I removed the plastic parts where you would clip the wires into.
Here you can see how dirty the TB and the opening of the intake manifold are.
Here is the new gasket on the left, old one on the right. The old one came off alright, it just cracked in two during the removal.
I have now cleaned the TB, replaced the gasket, clipped the wires back in, and mounted the TB back onto the intake manifold. Sorry for the lack of pics during these steps, I sorta got caught up in the moment and forgot about it.
And here is everything back together with the new gasket.
All Done

My engine compartment was lookin a little dirty so I cleaned it today.
-Simple Green Cleaning Foam-
-Old Toothbrush-
-Purple Rag- My trusty sidekicks.
Heres some pics of how it was before:

Spray on simple green, let it sit for about 10 seconds, scrub with toothbrush, wipe clean with wet rag, and finally look at your reflection.

Took the simple green foam spray to this, left is cleaned, right is uncleaned. And I really shouldn't have to tell you that but maybe I should.
That simple green stuff works pretty well, besides, its really fun to spray foam all over the place then watch it eat up all the buildup.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Theres a before on the left and an after on the right ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Heres another shot, if it still looks a little dirty in some places, it is. It got dark really fast, not to mention standing against the fender in a leaning position like that hurts your knees really bad.
Also- The simple green I got is the all purose cleaner, you can use it on just about any surface on your car and you don't have to worry about screwing anything up, its non-toxic, non-abrasive, and bio-degradable. I tried this on my tires and let it sit and in a couple seconds there was this yellowish liquid running to the ground. Clean tires, yay.
Great product, highly recommended.
