This is the picture of my 1980 mirada I have been building for the last 10 years as money and time have let me. My wife and I purchased this car in 1992 from a used car lot for our daily driver with 62000 miles on it. We drove it until 100000 miles and bought a house. The house work kept me from working on it for some time. I am working on it now more often. The car had rusty fenders and trunk. The rust is all cut out now and making good progress. I made frame connectors, eight point roll cage, boxed the leaf spring mounts, Mopar super stock springs, 8 3/4 rear end with 489 housing and 4.10 gears. The trunk has been modified a great deal from stock with a 16-gallon fuel cell. I built the elephant ear motor mounts to hold the 440 that will be going in soon. Steering has been changed to manual with a 69-charger box. Solid police car mounts now support the K member. Steering column shaft is from 1970 GTX went right in. All the firewall holes have been filled, no more heat or wipers summer car only. My 440 is from a 1971 Chrysler imperial that my dad sold new in 71 when he was a Chrysler dealer. I got the engine in 2006 from the original owner who was my dad’s best friend. It has been bored 0.60 over with speed pro step head pistons the steel crank was turned 10/10 and polished and the rotating assembly balanced. 7qt oil pan 1/2 in oil pickup, Lunati Voodoo 60304 cam 513 intake 533 exh lift. Crane push rods and roller rockers on top of a set of 452 heads that have been fitted with 2.19 intake 1.88 exhaust valves and bowls opened up. Vintage edelbrock TM7 intake Holley 1050 dominator. The trans is from the Chrysler also with full manual valve body and TCI 3400-3600 converter. Drive shaft from 69 charger shortened with 7290 universal joints. It is hard to find parts for the body, but I think I have almost everything I need for now. I will keep plugging away until she fires and goes for the ultimate MIRADA ride I have worked for.
