H ey! Thanks for looking at my page! You are looking at my 1999.5 Infiniti Qx4. Before you go on, please rate my car, and comment on what I should do to it! It sure is hard to find after market parts for it, but ill do my best! If you have looked at my other cars on Car Domain you will see that I own a 1992 Toyota Previa. I inherited that van when I turned 16. Let me tell you, the “joke” of driving a van was over very fast for me. It has a little 2.4l inline 4 and regardless, it’s not exactly what an 18 year old high-school male wants to be seen in. I was tired of getting crap for it so I bugged my parents for about a year and we agreed upon this car. I wanted a 2000 Ford Mustang GT, with the loud V8 and off road X-pipe. I had it all laid out, I created a PowerPoint for my parents telling them how I could make the Mustang work. They listened and then told me that I was getting a Qx4. You can imagine my face, sweet mom and dad; I am getting a cute girl car. I was happy but it was kind of bittersweet. They thought I would kill myself with the GT and they probably were correct.
T he “little girl’s car” that I received was from a neighbor down the street. I got it for 9,600$. The car originally retailed for $35,550. The owner had just bought a Toyota Land Cruiser and decided to sell this car. In the last few years of the previous owner using the car they had not really driven it at all and if they did it was only for mid-range trips. The car was in amazing shape when I got it with only 74,000 miles on it for a 1999/2000 car (less than 10,000 a year). There was only one small dent on the door and the running boards were chipped and I still have not figured out what that’s about.
I am not going to lie, seeing it all shiny sitting in the driveway when I first got it was really cool. I loved how it looked. But now that I have put 10,000 miles on it, I have some complaints . First I will start with the engine, a 170hp V6. This engine belongs in a CAR that weighs 800 pounds less. It is underpowered to say the least and get pretty darn poor gas mileage. What kind of gas mileage would you expect for a car like this, maybe 16 miles per gallon? Heck in the manual it claims 15-19. That’s not really what I have experienced. I have measured it and I have never gotten 15mpg. The highest was 14.5 miles per gallon. Sure I am 18 and might have a little lead foot, but please a hummer can do better! Another thing is the trans. Is it just me or does the Q seem to drive at 2k RPM all the time? it get annoying because everytime i look down no matter what speed im at 2k RPM. I wish it had the ability to work at 1.5k more often.
Why is my Qx4 the cleanest one on CarDomain? Simple, I work at a carwash. I get my Q washed about every 3-4 days. For the people who say that getting this many car washes once a week a get a clear coat added in the wash that helps to protect the paint and makes the high number of carwashes non damaging. Along with the clear coat i get a body shield protectant, bottom blaster (undercoat protectant that helps protect the underside from rusting) I also wax her when its nice outswide with a non abrasive wax once every other week. This wax is easier on the paint and doesnt take anything away from the paint when you put it on. It is applied with a wet sponge. Also every single piece of plastic on the car is armor-all'd once a week. I also clean the seats mabye once a month with leather cleaner and then a leather conditioner.
A lright well I finally got some new subs for the Qx4. I spent about 450$ on them. I got the subs from a friend for only seventy dollars. The 300 watt amp was 200$ and the rest added up to around 150$. Let me just start off by saying something unexpected, they are too loud! When the controller knob located under the steering wheel is all the way “off” my rear view mirror still shakes. It gets kind of old after a wile and I just turn the entire thing off. When I turn them up though oh my do they sound insane! Overall I think if I could do it again I would buy smaller subs. I don’t need two 12’ers blasting my little SUV. Now that i have had the subs for a wile i have some rattles. This drives me crazy because I am weird that that.
A s of right now it remains mostly stock with the exception of the subs and a K&N drop in filter and a flip down TV screen (not DVD player) that the previous owner had installed, but never hooked up.
O ne thing I am grateful of is that my Q has pretty much every option offered with the exception of the trailer hitch (something I don’t need)
