donaldm's 1982 Ford Thunderbird

This was my first car....got it back in the summer of '89.....
At the time it was solid black and bone stock. In '93 I went to Val-tech in Blairsville PA to get a degree in Autobody repair & Mechanics.. While there I fully restored my T-Bird, piece by piece....

donaldm's 1982 Ford Thunderbird

with the help of some freinds we removed the 3.8 V6 and instaled a 302 V8....we rebiult the 302 with an oversized cam, domed pistons, headers, dual exahst, ported and polished intake & heads, toped off with a Holly 650 carb...we replaced the rear with a ford 9" and had a freind of mine ,taking the automatic transmition class, put a shift kit in the transmition....I removed alot of excess wieght from the car, removed the a/c and all components, all of the emmisions stuff (air pump, catty, resonator), replaced the front bench seat with lighter bucketts Replaced the 20 gallon tank with a 10 gallon plastic one. Took it to the track a few times....always seemed to get smoked by Stangs, Camaros and other T-Birds . Since I didnt know much about car streeo at the time I got all but my sub and amp at RadioShack...lol if only I knew then what I know now..

Unfortunatly only a month or so after completing the car just as I wanted it I lost control while rounding a corner.... It was Feb 14 '94 and had just finished snowing...I was going too fast for the slushy roads and paid the price.....didnt do very much damage to look at it but because the car was 12 yrs old it was enough to total it....I did rebuild it just a bit different than the pic above, dark gray around the bottem, I replaced the front end with that of an '80 Cougar...replaced the wheels with red centerd ones complete with P245 R14 60s on the rear.....sadly when school ended and I came home I found out that much of the damage went unseen and most of the front end components needed replaced....the housing for the transmition was also cracked...I traded it in in the summer of '94....

Pics of the accident's aftermath on page two....
