Rear Door Panel Fabrication

Each of the rear door panels will house 16 Soundstream SST5.2 speakers. We decided to make them fairly basic out of 3/4" MDF to match the rest of the rear cargo area of the interior.

All the pieces cut to size for both door panels.

Starting to rough assemble the door panels.

Rounding over all the front edges to get everything smooth.

There will be 10 wire looms going into each door panel to accept all the wires that the 16 Soundstream SST5.2's will need.

Holes located & drilled.

All the screw holes will be filled in so they will not be seen when the door panels are wrapped in suede.

Filling in the holes.

We used the rings that were cut before to layout where we wanted the speakers to be located on the panel. This gave us a better idea of how they would look once they are mounted.

Once the location was established, the rings were traced & the inside diameter was rough cut.

The rings were attached to the panel and the openings were smoothed out with a flush trim bit in the router.

We will be adding supports in the center section of the door panels for extra strength. They will be made from 3/4" aluminum tube with 1/2-13" grade 8 bolts and t-nuts.

Drilled and countersunk holes for the heads of the 1/2-13" bolts.

wow man i love originality and in my opinion this is one of the most original on this entire site. i never even thought about an armored truck, and i try hard to think outside the box. do you mind my asking what the cost of the truck was? and how long did it take you to find it?
