 Subwoofer Enclosures Build.

The subwoofer enclosures wil be made out of 1" MDF. There will be 4 R1-15 subwoofers per enclosure, so 4 enclosures will be needed. The dimensions will be 74.625" x 23" x 13"...this will give an airspace of exactly 2 cubic feet per subwoofer after all the displacement figures have been calculated.

Cutting out the 74.625" x 23" panels for the tops & bottoms of the enclosures.

To speed up the process, 1 panel will be cut to the exact dimensions & then be used as a template to form the rest of the panels with the router.

The same process will be used for the sides, ends & dividers of the enclosures to make sure all the panels are exactly the same. If they are not, they will not bolt together to each other correctly.

The side panels will be 74.625" x 11" and will have multiple bolt holes drilled in them to secure each of the enclosures to each other.

Laying out the side panel master template.

Now that the master template is complete, It can be used to make the rest of them.

A single master template of the top enclosure panels will be made to make sure that the subwoofers will fit exactly as they should and then will get transfered over to the full top panel 4 times to make a completed panel. The completed panel will then be used as the master template to make the rest.

Cutting out the single master template.

Building the enclosures.

The top, sides, ends & dividers are all glued & screwed together. Only a few more steps to go to get 1 completed.

T-Nuts will be used on the mounting holes so the bolts that secure the subwoofers to the enclosures will be good & strong. There was a .020" press fit allowed for the T-Nuts in the holes so they will stay tight. They had to be pressed into the holes with a C-Clamp.
