Well I've finally gone and done it...LOL

I pulled the 440/auto out of the 71 300 4dr I bought and the 440/auto are now sitting quitely in the wagon!!!

I bought the 71 300 4dr hdtp almost 4 years ago. I knew about this car sitting under a tree for over 10 years. I found it by accident when I used a small cult-de-sac to turn around and spotted it sitting under the tree. I would go back every so often to see if it was still there. After 10 years I decided to finally stop and ask if the car was for sale, well it was and I got it running the next day on the 10 year old gas!!

So I really only bought the car for the motor and tranny but since I knew I had the motor and tranny I was able to buy my rust free wagon for a good price, less it's original 440/auto.

So I pulled the motor and tranny here in the middle of december 07 and in -5 degree C and even pressure washed it while it was snowing out. Got some funny looks form the neighbours. LOL

Here's a pic of the wagon's engine bay before....

Now the after....

I didn't rebuild the motor or tranny since I'm only getting the car running so I can get it Gov't inspected so I can register it in BC. Next winter the motor and tranny will be comming out for a rebuild.

So here she is, still jacked up, but motor and tranny are in and bolted in nice and tight.

The motor and tranny swap went very smooth and they basiclly just dropped into the car, no fighting to line up motor mounts or tranny bolts. I really believe the wagon was happy to be getting a new motor/tranny and was heling me the best way it could.

I have done other motor/tranny swaps in the past were I have spent hours fighting with the motor or tranny to get things to line up and bolt in.

Now the fun of getting everything bolted back in and on and finally get her running and driving under her own power...CAN"T WAIT!!!

I have stated many times, I am not stuck on any one brand of auto manufacturer and I think your MOPAR wagon is awsome. I don't think the auto designers of the 1960's designed too many ugly cars in that 10 year span. I remember when I was a kid, my parents had friends who had a 1964 Pontiac Sation Wagon ( I think it was a Catalina?)and I loved that car. I don't know why car designers after the 1960's forgot how to design a good looking station wagon but they sure did forget. I love MOPAR's, Fords and GM"S of the past. I have a 1980 Camaro that I plan to restore, mind you it is like you stated a rusty car but I did not have the heart to see it go to the scrap yard. My dream car though is a 1969 Dodge Charger or the 1970 Dodge Challenger but if I ever come across an old rust free wagon to wrench on Dodge, Ford or GM I would love to have one, those were multy purpose vehicles and you did it in style. 5 Stars.......

Sick wagon! Is it the same 440 that came in the 72 Polara? I know that's a monster of a motor. Wouldn't be my dream car but I'd be in love with it if it were mine too! 5*

Great car. Nice job on the disc brakes & the duals look good. Take a look at my 69 Monaco convertible when you get a chance. Please leave a comment & a rating is appreciated.
