The following pictures show the dash that I recently finished. I decided to use the original Datsun dash frame and accommodate the 60's Ferrari style.
Below is a picture of the fiberglass mold ready to be pulled.
Here is the fiberglass dash two-piece mold ready to make my dash.
I spray painted some black primer on the dash and nacelle to get an idea what type of color and finish will look good. I have decided to go with satin black with a crinkle coat finish.
I decided to fix the gill to an elliptical oval shape instead of the more square opening. The front air scoops seemed too large as well.
Dec 8. Today I finished the air scoops on the underside of the nose and reduced the size of the topside air scoops. To create the underside scoops I had to make a mold of the scoop shape I wanted. The air scoop mold is shown.
These pictures also show the oval intake finished. Next steps will include reducing the circular intakes to a 3 5/8" hole, re designing the top air scoops and any fiberglass touch ups.
Dec 21. Fiberglassed in the 3 5/8" circular intake.
Finally! Oval mouth, smaller top air scoops, bottom air scoops, and smaller round air intake openings! It has taken about two months but the time is paying off.
Here are the before and after shots:
