Powerplant of the Crack Bunny
I BLEW UP TWO HEADGASKETS SO FAR AND JUST RECENTLY CRACKED THE HEAD ON MY BUNNY!!! I AM BLOWING SMOKE ONLY DURING WARM UP BUT THEN IT GOES AWAY. time for a new port matched X-flow head with cold can intake.
block is a 9A block with 83.5 mm 8.75:1 wiseco pistons. pauter chromoly race rods, knife edged and kryo treated crank. windage tray, G-grind cam, stillen fuel pressure regulator, 700cc/min accele injectors, Turbo setup is from www.8vturbo.com. Otherwise known as Advanced Tuning Products. blew up the stock GTI 8v trans w/ quaiffe and hardened axles. so now i have a 16v scirocco trans with quiaffe and harderened axles with new rocco knuckles, bearings, and hubs. Stainless steel valves. the turbo is from Garrett. it is the GT30R dual ball bearing with an .83 trim. it is laggy but when it pulls, it pulls HARD!!! autotech upper strut brace, 75mm BBK trottle body, tail 38mm external wastegate with 8psi spring. Greddy profec-b boost controller, apex-i turbo timer. BEST TIME WITH THE 4K 8V TRANNY WAS 13.34 SEC AT 95MPH. THAT TRANNY HAS A TOP SPEED OF ONLY 105MPH. SO I WAS BASICALLY MAXXXED OUT WITH THAT TRANNY. I HAVE YET TO GO TO THE TRACK WITH THTE 16V TRANNY. BUT I EXPECT TO BE IN LOW 12'S WITH NO TUNING TO THE MOTEC. HIGH 11'S WITH TUNING AND DYNO TIME.

i sold my turbo to save money to buy my new GT35/40R but my car had to be moved to another location so i bought a new t3 60 trim turbonetics turbo. i tuned it with the new turbo on a tuesday night, took the car to the track that next wednesday and made one pass at 13.34. during the run i blew my headgasket, hydrolocked the motor, bent two intake valves, detroyed my custom je pistons and cracked my head.

right now the motor and trans is out of the car. the head has been rebuilt and ported and polished. i just received my wiseco pistons. 83.5mm 8.75:1 ratio.

i came to find out that the guy that built the motor did not put in a tri-metal head gasket. he used a stock one!!!! so the 18psi and with the car tuned to be lean at top end caused the car to overheat on the first run.

i just sent to block, crank, and rods out to a local machine shop make sure nothing is scuffed or not round. I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT THE BLOCK IS REALLY BAD AND I HAD TO BUY A NEW 9A BLOCK AND HAVE IT BORED. AFTER THAT NIGHTMARE, I HAD FISCHER MACHINE ASSEMBLE THE MOTOR AND HEAD WITH NEW VAVLES AND HARDWARE AND NEW GASKETS. MY HEADGASKET IS A .074 COMETIC 4-LAYER METAL GASKET.

THEN AFTER RUNNING THE CAR AT THE TRACK I BLEW SOMETHING. THINKING IT WAS A HEAD GASKET I SPECIAL ORDERED ANOTHER COMETIC GASKET AND HAD THE HEAD MILLED AND INSEPTED FOR CRACKS. MY MACHINIST SAID HE COULD NOT FIND ANY CRACKS BUT THE HEAD WAS WARPED. SO THIS IS THE SECOND BLEWN MOTOR IN TWO YEARS. I INSTALL THE NEW HEADGASKET TO ONLY HAVE THE CAR CONTINUE TO BLOW WHITE SMOKE DURING WARM UP. I TOOK THE HEAD OFF AGAIN AND HAD IT RECHECKED AT ANOTHER MACHINE SHOP TO FIND THAT THE HEAD HAS A VERY SMALL CRACK. PERFECT!!!! HEHEHE MORE MONEY.

I STALLED THE 16V TRANNY WITH NEW 100MM AXLES AND KNUCKLES FROM A SCIROCCO. I HAVE YET TO RUN IT AT THE TRACK WITH THIS SET UP BUT I WILL KEEP YOU ALL INFORMED.
