first off, here is a picture of my wonderfull fiance and I taken next to some lake up around lincoln New Hampshire.
This is the start of my camaro project. i bought the car in the summer of 07 and it seems to be a pretty good starting point. it has a 350TPI and a 700R4 with a shift kit that both only have about 10k miles on them. it also came with a 3.5"stainles exhaust, sub frame connectors, bosch mass air flow sensor, and a nice alpine deck. it only has 94,000 and cost $2,500. pretty good deal!!
the hood is a little dented and the paint is scratched but i have a hood to put on and the whole car will be ready for paint by the summer of 08. there are also a few dents to pull and the front bumper cover needs to be replaced. after paint it should look as good as it runs.
a side picture
and a front picture.
as soon as i finish cleaning the engine compartment i will post pictures of that too. also when body work starts i will be sure to post all pics and info of the progres.
up and coming mods: polish plenum. clean engine, paint body black, possible spoiler, interior in the far future including corvette seats or similar and a new carpet.
So now, a year later, i have painted the car and have time to post pics of the progress. i had to wait untill about april of 08 for the new hampshire weather to warm up to a good working temp. i started by removing all the odd pieces off the car. the ground-efects, spoiler, door handles, front and rear bumper, mirors, every thing! then i sanded it all down with an electric palm sander. after fixing the front bumper, passenger side door and ground effect, hood, passenger rear quarter, and drivers side rear quarter, it was time for primer.
The first layer of primer went on bad so i had to sand the hole car down and spray again. the second batch went on much better!!
After primer i sprayed the hole car with black primer as a guid coat, and began to sand. block sanding the black guide coat off was long process but my fiancee helped a few days which sped things up a lot! we wet blocked the hole car with 400 grit until there was no more high or low spots, then we went over it again with 600gritt just going by feel.
after all sanding was done i pulled the car back in the garage for paint. I went with a solid black, and then a crysler orange (sunburst orange pearl). the orange looks red unless it is hit by direct sun light, then it is an amazing orange color.
All the re-assembly of the car was done the two days before my wedding by my brother and i. that includes the whole interior and all of the exterior parts too. the morning of our wedding, i drove the camaro to the gas station for a test run and to get some new gas in it after it sat all winter in the barn. The day after the wedding my wife and i drove the car 500miles from New Hampshire to Pennsylvania with no problems.
a few pictures from a truck stop on the way down to PA!

i swear it looks orange in the sun!!
