I found that stripping both doors was needed. It appeared to my trained eye that the door skins may have been replaced at one time. Upon further inspection, I changed my mind and felt that maybe the whole door was replaced. Either way, the metal was in excellent condition barring some dents in the right door (parking lot stuff). Whoever did these doors up, for reasons I can't figure, never bothered to prime them. When I started the dent repairs, I couldn't get the paint to feather back like it did on the rest of the car, thats when I discovered the lack of primer. Paint will stick to metal for sometime I geuss, even without primer, but theres no rust prevention in paint, so lets get er done correctly this time....
The left front fender (wing)was worked before as well.I"m old school and I just don't understand why someone would put bondo on top of paint, and so much too. I could easily put my hammer and dolly to work here as acces to the back of the fender is a no brainer once the wheel was removed.
as you can see, this proves my point.
doors removed and now ready to prime...
primed door, what a novel idea!

now that I have some good primer on the inside of the boot and bonnet, I'll move on

all taped up and ready to get some primer on the rest of him.
First a coat of epoxy primer over the whole car. I let this dry over the weekend , then a light scuffing with a red scotchbrite pad......
2K primed....now the block party begins...
