Page 6 - Interior restoration and firewall fabrication
To make a long story short, I have decided to restore the entire interior. I am changing everything over to black.
Time to finish the long awaited and constantly pushed back rear firewall. This firewall needs to be built to ensure that it will be NHRA race legal.
It begins
Another angle to show the support bars welded down
Rear shot of carpet removed

Drivers
This is a nice rust spot by the back seat foot well. There was one on each side. I cut about a 5 inch by 5 inch piece out on each side and welding in a fresh piece of sheet metal.
The opposite side.
After pulling the carpet the car finally pays me back! I found about $2.20 in change woot!
One of the bolts broke since it was rusted so bad. This bolt was for the drivers seat. I ground down the stud and then welded a new bolt into its place
RAAMat time! While the interior and carpet are out I am going to RAAMat the car. This is a sound deadner that is supposedly as good if not better than dynamat extreme. It is self adhesive and was very easy to install. Much recommended!
Stock black carpeting will be going in the passenger compartment. Since the rear hatch compartment is modified I am going to buy some non molded carpet so I can carpet the entire firewall also.
Water+cardboard= custom 2 piece headliner. This the result of typical Thirdgen leaking t tops. The headliner was orginally gray so I pulled it out and it stayed somewhat together except for the break in the middle. this is getting a coat of fiberglass resin and fiberglass cloth on the damaged parts. More pictures of finished product below
Cracked cardboard
The gray cloth was disgustingly dirty and due for a change anyways.
Fiberglassed headliner. The whole headliner feels like a hard piece of plastic and is about 100 times stronger than it was uncoated
Fiberglassed and used fiberglass cloth on the middle where it was broken
Other side after the resin was applied
Redone with the black fabric. The corners were a PITA!
Old dirty gray sail panels
Re did these too

Brand new interior door panels that were custom made. They are leather, carpet, and suede.
