This is my 2007 Mazdaspeed 6. This is my first picture, the next morning after buying it.
The wife was promised that no modding would be done, because the car was already perfect.. unfortunately, the Speed6's flaws become apparent after the initial 48 hour turbo lust. The car falls on its face after 5000 rpms, especially up here at 5800ft elevation. Heatsoak from the TMIC, fuel cut, drivetrain lash, you name it...its there. One thing leads to another, and now I am finally happy with what I have going.
The Garrett GT2871r turbo is amazing, the car feels totally different now. The prime power point for that turbo is between 3k and 7k rpms, perfect for this motor. Boost does not drop off anymore, and it pulls harder at 17psi than thereworked PG K04 did at 21psi.
Water/Methanol injection is my favorite mod I think so far. Heatsoak is a thing of the past... I used the stock windshield washer reservoir for my liquids, due to the fact that the stock reservoir already has a low level indicator built in. Its simply amazing to see your boost air temps go from 150 degrees to 70 degrees in one pull.
