Custom Electonics & Wiring

Well, I helped out a friend with technical work and in return I was given a Lilliput PC745 as a gift.  Now I have postponed my Electronics system for so long mainly because I didn’t know what I wanted to install.  The other reason was that I was so damn busy with tech-thesis that I didn’t get time to design a full fledged automated system.

This is what I have done so far:
   • Control a Dual Output 5 Channel AV switch
   • 2 RGB PWM Glow Channels
   • 8 General Purpose Outputs (One that I have connected to my Garage door opener)

Vehicle Accessory Computer Interface

If you have a lilliput PC745 and you know some VB (If your familiar with C++ you can easily recode what I did, I already have had some people contribute and Recode some), check out the following page what I did to get that up and working.

The following link has the source code and explinations of VACI:

The following link has the Circuit Diagrams, and instructions to build your own.

Feel free to download the source and use it.  I also explain some other nifty tricks you can use to enhance your vehicle app, just have a read through it.

CAN-Buss Network:

Well, I’m almost done with the hardware designing process.  I’m going to have a word with a few hobby companies if they want to sell my hardware if any of you are interested.  The hardware I designed is open hardware along with open source software which has been written in Proton PicBasic Pro.

The hardware should automate the following in your doors:

  • Windows
  • Central Locking
  • Mirror
    • Fold
    • Adjust + Memory
    • Dimming
    • Defogger
  • 6X PWM channels for RGB LED’s, which means you, can have 2 separate RGB LED strips on the doors.

Basically, I have designed a Black Box with ten 30A relays, 8PWM channels, capable of handling 3A each, ten inputs 0~16V each programmable to be either analog or digital.

Most functionality is withing the doors so I'm designing this universal universal controller that can be used in the doors and engine compartment.

I'm also designing a large controller that goes under the seat that manages all my interior accessories.  This controller is specific for my car any my accessories, so will probably be useless to anyone else.

I have also designed a Sensor package, which has a barometric pressure sensor, Accelerometer, Gryro, Photosensors, Temperature and humidity sensors.  This can be used to automate and display information on a computer such as the PC745.

Now, even though my car is old it doesn’t mean that my car can’t keep up with modern technology.  The entire system has been designed using the CAN infrastructure.  Which is pretty much what they use in all cars today.  So instead of having 20~30 separate wires going into the door, there is only 4.  Live, Ground, CAN-H and CAN-L.

So finally you can bring your classic up to the 21st century.  With this system, the sky is literally the limit!

Now I’ve created a very nice GUI for my PC745, which interfaces to my electronic units directly.  So I can reconfigure them, lock-unlock, open the windows, switch on my RGB LED’s and so on so forth from one touch screen.
