Sorry, I am still Working on this Page Please Be patient

Ok, the first thing I have to say: “I you want any thing for a Jeep, contact Quadratec

All the following installation are supposed to be done by professionals, I accept no responsibility if any thing goes wrong, I just want to share the knowledge which I have obtained.

I just ordered my parts; I am still waiting for them to be shipped over here. Once they arrive I can finish this section.

The first thing about modifying an EFI or Fuel Injection vehicle is that you will most likely have to reset your ECU calibration charts. I will cover that later on in this section, but while you are at it, if the car is old change all the sensors, so that the ECU can have more accurate readings which means more HP and better economy. These sensors, adjust the Spark Timing, Fuel/Air graphs, injection Timing etcetera.

In my YJ, the only sensors related to the ECU are:
Map Sensor [$??]
Manifold Temp Sensor (MAT) [$16.90]
Throttle Position Sensor (TBS) [$21.63]
Oxygen Sensor [$53.19]
Voice or Pickup Coil [$??]
Crank Sensor [$??]

I wanted some extra juice out of my jeep, so I did some research and came up with the following:
Borla Header and Cat-Back system[$819.61], a complete stainless steel exhaust system, with a million mile warrantee.

Magnaflow Catalytic converter[$70.23], Stainless steel construction, built for performance.

K&N FIPK kit[$211.27], Air intake, with the flow pipe and heat guard.

AiRaid TBS[$63.27], a number of people claim that it does nothing, yes that’s because they have a stock filter and exhaust, it won’t do much, but it does work.

Jet performance Chip[$218.36], the only recognized performance chip that actually works for jeep, I am not talking about a $20 fix which just fools the O2 sensor.

Ignition Performance Kit[$159.25], includes livewire spark plug cables, distributor cap and a firepower spark coil.

Consumable parts which I ordered:
E-3 Diamond Fire Spark Plugs[$4.49], Claim to increase fuel economy and performance no idea if it actually works, I am trying them out for the first time.
K&N Oil Filters[$7.93], Performance oil filters
FilterMag[$68.17], which allows metal particles smaller than what the filter can clean out stick to the wall of the filter, which also promotes engine life.

The local Temperature often reaches a maximum “unofficial” temperature of 60°C, Lets face it the jeeps cooling isn’t the best in the world, you stop moving she boils over. So I figured once again, replace everything related. So I ordered the following:

FlowKooler Water pump[$95.14], which produces twice the regular water flow on idle and returns to normal flow after 3000Rpm.

Griffin Aluminum Radiator[$442.00], which is lighter, more efficient and “drop in”.

RobertShaw Thermostat @195[$10.82], the only performance rated thermostat.

Flexalite Electric Radiator Fan[$280.15], which will free up Horsepower, has almost twice the airflow and only run when it needs to.

Oil Cooler[$118.79], which is installed in front of the oil filter, it keeps the oil cool, which promotes oil life, which saves your engine from a horrid death.

The grand total of this Endeavour is $3560.

Before and After upgrade:

0 to 100Km/h changed from 16.1 seconds to XXX seconds.

Quarter Mile Time: 19.2 seconds to XXX seconds, Trap speed from 70.2mph(XXXKm/h) to XXXmph(XXXKm/h)

Remember that my Jeeps acceleration has probably decreased due to the low ratios on the NV4500 and the fact that it wieghs much heavier.  But I assure you this upgrade has done wonders to the offroad/towing torque.

Now that doesnt sound verry fast, but I assure you for an SUV as rugged as that its fast!

Procedure:

You start by disconnecting the positive terminal of the battery.  I would reccomend you have ziplock bags, masking tape and a marker pen handy.  This is so that you can separate the small parts such as nuts, bolts, washers etc.  Use the masking tape and tape it around hoses connectors to lable them so that you wont get confused when reconnecting everything.

Start by removing the airfilter and filter housing aling with all its mounts, then remove all the hoses and connectors on the intake manifold, remove the throttlebody and cover it with a clean rag.  Carefully remove the fuel rail and injectors, then try to cover all the open hoses and holes, to avoid dust and small objects from falling in.  You then have to carefully remove the manifold retaining bolts, try to loosten them in a cross oven fasion, as you could potentially warp the manifold mounting face.  remove the intake manifold and place it aside.

Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the exhaust pipe, and remove the exhaust manifold from the engine.  Use clean rags to cover up the holes on the engine block, and clean the surface with either a gasket remover or a stanly knife blad, take care with a stanly knife blade as you can dammage the surface.  Once all the broken pieces of gasket has been removed, wipe the surface with accetone to remove any oily residue which can cause a leak later on.  Check which supplied borla gasket suits your block best, and place over the two manifold mounting studs.  Now you can install your Borla header.  In some cases you might find it easier to install the rest of your exhaust before you install the header.

Carefully place the header on the two mounting studs.. and finger tighten nuts to the two studs keeping the heading in place.

The car sounds like a beast, and I will never have to change my exhaust or air filter again. The time gain is XXX which suggests that I could have a power gain of XXX HP; I couldn’t give you an exact answer as there are no dyno tests here.

If you want to show other SUV's a thing or two I recomend it, it realy made a differance!  The engine has a much better pickup and throtle response, and the power band area (3500~4500RPM) has a huge ammount of boost, almost feels like turbo lag when you get into that range around a turn.

Here is part one of my endeavour:
