THIS VEHICLE IS A 'WORK IN PROGRESS'...PLEASE BEAR THIS IN MIND WHEN LEAVING RATINGS.
Edit June 21 2009 - As financial and time resources have slowly withered away, along with patience, the car sits awaiting 'better days'. Almost nothing has changed since the last updates to this profile. If someone is willing to buy the car at a price that will cover the necessary expenses, it will be sold. If that doesn't happen by the time I have the resources to continue working on it, I will restore it as best I can, and ultimately probably sell it, in favour of either a car more suited to my taste (full size RWD 80s Ford product) or invest whatever money I can and stick with public transit for the time being.
Thanks for stopping by!

--THE STORY--
In August of 2006, my summer job occasionally involved me catching a ride with my boss in his car, a black 1992 Mercury Topaz GS coupe. I found this relatively mediocre vehicle interesting because my aunt has a red 1993 Mercury Topaz GS coupe, like this one, having the 4 cylinder engine and automatic transaxle.
August 2007: I go back to work for the same employer. Sometime before January of '07, he had purchased a replacement vehicle (1992 Sunbird GT), and the Topaz had just been sitting on the street. While traveling to work on one occasion, I am informed that he wants to get rid of the Topaz. I ask how much, and he tells me it's mine for nothing (legally: $1) if I want it. I very gladly accepted the offer, and on September 23 2007 took the bus to meet the tow truck at my boss' home.
$40 and 30 minutes later, the Topaz is in my driveway!
Sept 23 07: an hour after the tow truck dropped it.
To see more of my car and what I intend to do with it, view the rest of the pages in this site. A lot needs to be done, and after that I have some interesting plans for custom work.
