curve_hugger's 1978 Honda Civic

THIS CAR IS FOR SALE!  COMES WITH PARTS CAR, PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR MORE INFO!!!!!

1978 Honda Civic 1200 3DR "Full Custom". It's name was White Hot, but now I sometimes call it "Kamikaze". This was the first car in my name when I turned 18. It was dark metallic brown and that lasted about 2 days. It went into grey primer and stayed that way for a year. My brother owned a custom paint and body shop at the time and as a gift did a major custom job on it.

Yes, you may laugh now at the paint scheme, but it was 1989 and that stuff was cool. The pink slash was made with a 4" house-paining brush and the geometrics were made with cut sponges. My brother was one of very few in the area at the time that could do a "clean" fade, meaning that it was even.

Lots of body work was done, including shaved markers, door handles, filled in roof seams (they were channels where the sides were welded to the roof, and Honda just filled them in with ugly rubber, custom tube grille, and custom de-chromed bumpers off a '76 with white front turn signals built in. A Kamei airdam finishes off the front. The major work was in the back, though, where there was a large dished-in spot for the license plate that was filled in and the taillights were removed and replaced with '76 Corrolla. The cutouts in the hatch for the taillights were filled in to make a very smooth look. Also added was a Fuba roof antenna, which is not in these pics.

The stock rear, with license cutout, taillights, ugly stock bumpers, etc.

The reworked rear. Yes, ugly plastic window louvers from JC Whitney...got thrown away after I just couldn't stand them anymore.

The interior and drivetrain is all stock, except for a 2" custom exhaust. It is lowered 2" with KYB shocks, and a 3/4" TurnSix front sway far attached up front.

Unfortunately, the car is sitting in a carport waiting for a drivetrain transplant (everything is in my coupe with a fried wiring harness), but I haven't found help yet. Future hopeful mods will be a progressive carb, suspension upgrades, Flowmaster muffler, and newer Civic hubs and brakes to get rid of the odd bolt pattern, so I can have larger and also be able to put on any wheel I want. The car will have a new paint job...still the blind-me white on top (I'm serious...we used the brightest white possible and I need sunglasses to look at my car in the sun!), but a bright yellow on the bottom. It will be hard to sand away that paint sceme just because I know how hard it was to do, but it just don't fly in today's world! ;-)
