WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA!

Well, it's been a while since my last update. I have moved back to Calfornia and the car's clutch is finally slipping. I have ordered an RPS Carbon/Carbon, but today on the existing clutch at Dyno Day the car put down 650rwhp slipping the whole time. Here are some pics from today's even at Dynoxtreme.

12/8/05-RPS Carbon Carbon clutch and AP Engineering Shifter Bushing installation begins.

The time has come. My stock clutch disc and ACT pressure plate has given in to the 600 ft/lb of torque that Justin Nenni was able to squeeze out of the 67mm turbocharger on my car.

Under the advice of Dusty, Justin, Sarkis at Dynoxtreme and a few other people, I decided rather than spend 1000.00 on a clutch many times over, I took the plunge on the RPS Carbon Carbon with the Aluminum Flywheel. The clutch is rebuildable should you ever need it, and very cheaply. About half the cost of a new clutch disc.

Straight from Dusty and MVP Motorsports here are the specs on the clutch.

'RPS Carbon-Carbon Twin Disc Clutch for 1993-98 Supra TT
ITEM # RP Carbon MK4
Tired of replacing your clutch? Then stop looking. RPS has given us the final statement in clutches with their Patent Pending Carbon-Carbon Twin Disc clutch offered here. This clutch will hold every bit of 1200 torque. Its virtually indestructable, its completely rebuildable (very cheaply) should you ever be able to wear it out. This is a dream clutch for a hard core drag racer. This is also a dream clutch for a daily driver. How can it be both? The answer is in the carbon. The pedal pressure is slightly heavier than stock and its completely slippable. In fact, the hotter it gets the more power it holds! Hardcore slipping does not glaze the discs...all because its carbon! The price includes a lightweight RPS aluminum flywheel and all small parts (throwout bearing, pilot bearing, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, etc). If you add up the cost of just 2 "normal" clutches you will see that taking the plunge into this RPS Carbon-Carbon is a great idea. We use it in 2 of our Supras here, one making 1000rwhp and driven 25k+ miles a year. We're putting our name on this clutch too because we believe its everything its advertised to be and more. We always have at least one in inventory, so immediate delivery is not a problem.

One of the great things about being in Los Angeles is that everything for our cars is made close by, so when the clutch was ready after a 2 week backorder, I drove to Chatsworth and picked it up, where I met a very nice guy named Tim who discussed the clutch with me.

The Carbon/Carbon (according to Tim) unofficially needs no break in period. Officially for warranty reasons you should break in the clutch. Don't put it on, go bang on it and break it then expect Dusty or RPS to replace it. The first thing they are going to ask you is if you broke it in properly.

Contrary to popular belief, the clutch with the Aluminum flywheel rather than chromoly, is still good for drag racing, however the car will fall out of boost more quickly due to less mass and load on the engine between shifts.

After I got home I unpacked the box. This combo comes with everything you need, you don't have to buy a single thing, however I recommend the AP Engineering Shifter Bushings while you're in there to eplace your stock ones.

http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates/frmTemplateH.asp?SubFolderID=210&SearchYN=N

First, what is this product? Your shifter fork that attaches your transmission to your shifter is held onto the transmission by 2 bushings, one on each side of the fork. The stock pieces are made of a rubber. These bushings are made from lightweight billet aluminum.

Second, why do you need them? These AP Engineering billet bushings stabilize the shifter and offer a more precise feel. The stock rubber bushings have some play in them and these billet bushings completely eliminate that.

Over time your stock bushings deteriate into nothing. You can not buy just the stock rubber bushing replacements, you have to buy the whole fork. Even if you did that, you would still have nothing better than the stock bushings.

The kit includes everything pictured here and installation instructions. You need nothing more than a vise to do it yourself.

You do NOT have to drop your transmission to install these. All you have to do is unbolt the shifter tower from the transmission and if you need more room, just unbolt the transmission mount.

These fit both the 6-speed Twin Turbo and the 5-speed N/A.

Rochester 960cc Injector-
This is the largest injector size that can be directly used with the stock Toyota ECU. We have been able to tune 960cc and 1000cc injectors with the MAP ECU on a highly modified Supra. Included with the PHR Stage 3 Fuel System.

Upgrades begin tomorrow. I'll be posting pics and updates as we get them.
