1962 Porsche 356 B with original sunroof.
The car originally belonged to my uncle. It is the European model from Reuter, Germany. If your into the old Porsche's, you will see the difference on the exterior.
History;
The car had sat in my Grandmothers garage since breaking down in 1975 and in 1986 my uncle decided to bring it back to life. He had the interior redone, a fresh coat of paint added and dropped in a fresh rebuilt 912 engine. All was going well until a few miles later when the engine overheated and the electrical failed. He took it back to the shop who completed the restoration but to his dismay the garage had gone belly up and they closed their doors. Fed up and out $15000.00 the car sat in my uncles garage until 2004.
In 2004 I purchased my first home and persuaded my uncle to let me have the car. He agreed but on the condition that I could not sell it. I trailered the car and the original 356 engine from Sunnyvale, CA to Folsom, CA. The car sat in my garage for a few years while I tampered with a few odds and ends.
Finally this year in April of 2007 I got some money together and contacted a well known Porsche enthusiast at Frank's Automotive in Sacramento. I had been trying to find a mechanic who had plenty of knowledge and experience with these cars for they are very temperamental. After talking with Frank and his son Nick, they set all my worries behind me.
On May 25th I recieved a call from Frank stating that the car was ready to be picked up. I grabbed my wife and I headed down to pick up the car.
This winter I will have the vehicle repainted by a talented friend of mine. I will also redo some of the minor cosmetic detail flaws.
