Well, I finally got around to installing my system. I put the Kenwood eXcelon X815 head unit, wired my amps, and built my sub box this weekend. I'm powering two 12" Orion Cobalt subs in a sealed box with an Orion Cobalt amplifier running at 160x2 but still giving great power. Planet Audio speakers are in now, nad aside from the occasional tweeter that blows, they sound great. I'm running Clarion speakers in the dash and Planet Audio 6.5" components in the rear. These are powered from a Planet audio Amplifier. I could not have asked for a better head unit than the Kenwood, and will definitely take it with me when I sell the car! (well, maybe not, I want the new x917, so I can get Sirius satellite radio.
Fast, reliable, luxurious, and the perfect stage for an aftermarket car audio system! It's got leather, automatic climate control, power everything (except seats), and is in great shape!
My previous car was a 1986 Saab 900 S 4-door, in which I ran 2 Orion Cobalt 12" subs and a SWEET orion Cobalt amplifier. Rear fill was provided by 2-6.5" clarion pro audio speakers which replaced the god-awful stock 4x10s. Front stage was provided by the stock clarion speakers-They were actually pretty good! Head unit was a cheaper panasonic, not sure what type.
The 9000 will hopefully be sold soon. I need something easier to modify, since I work at an Auto Customization shop.
