My 1968 FORD MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE
On Saturday, January 4th, my friend Kenny, my brother Brian and I went to a trailer park in Pleasant Valley to see a Mustang. I saw it parked in front of a trailer for many years, and I wanted to get a closer look. When I went to the door and older lady answered and I asked if she would be willing to sell it in the future. She said that 'in the future' but she didn't know what to do with it at the moment. I asked if I could look at it more and come back another time, and she said yes. On closer inspection of the car I realized it had Arizona license plates with a registration sticker from 1995! That meant that it was in a state where cars don't rust easily, and it was in running condition up until 7 years ago! Since things in my family don't happened automatically I had to look up 1964 or 1969 Mustangs online. I looked up these years because the wheels looked like they were from a 1969 and the emblems on the side looked like a 1964. DUUUH Dane, look at the side lights, they came out with those in 1968 for safety reasons and sure enough it was! So I looked up parts and stuff online and realized I could practically build a mustang from all the parts available! So the next weekend on Saturday, January 11th, my dad, brother, Kenny and I went out to try to tow it away. She gave us her number and said to call later because she had to figure out what she was going to do with the car. She said maybe she would have it towed out to a local auto body shop to see how much it was worth...UT OH! Don't let her do that Dane, they're going to rip her off and try to take it or say it was worth waaaay more than it really is. So we called and she said that since my dad was doing it for his kids she'd sell it to us! We gave her our number and told her to call whenever she was ready to make a deal. She called a few days later and my dad made a deal with her to buy the mustang for $400! So on Thursday, January 16th, we all went out again to clean the snow off of the car. The next two weeks we played phone tag and it never seemed like it was a good day for her. After a while, we finally made an arrangement to tow it Tuesday, February 2nd, and now the cleaning and restoration begins...
