My old Benz

This is my old '87 300 E.
I loved it to bits. The last of about 14 Mercedes vehicles I've owned, this was the first car I bought with my own hard-earned money, and it was the car I always dreamed of since I was in school. I've owned it for a year, during which I spent lavish amounts of money on it to make it as flawless as possible. After a while, however, this proved really unwise, so I ended up selling it for about as much as fixing the air conditioner alone had cost me! I actually cried as I looked back at it as the taxi cab drove away from the used car lot. To this day, part of me still regrets selling it: After all it was all paid for, and we had some great memories together. And to this day, I hope to come into enough money to buy a better one for a toy.
I doubt I ever would, though. I've had several problems with the car, not least of which was the seating position. The 124's interior (and most German cars, for that matter) were designed for the typical Germanic build. Being only 5'4", I could never find a perfect seating position: the steering wheel was too high and too tilted (and too big) and the pedals were too far away.
Apart from that, the car had a serious handling problem that nobody - not even the dealer - could figure out. The car would become very difficult to control or keep in a straight line once over 100km/h, and - get this - the problem seemed to disappear every time someone else was driving! I eventually got tired of that and she had to go.
All in all, the 124 still is one of my all-time favorites.

it had a engine flush already, the milage is a little over a 100 thousand, and i like the color of the seats, they need a little work they have some cracks but not to bad will try to fix before they do get to bad. and that is the only real problem with the car. do you still have yours??
