RaySurZ's 300ZX Twin Turbo

This was my dream car back in my High School days. Ever since the 1990 version appeared on the street and the first time I saw one I instantly fell in love with the car. I knew I had to have one! So ever since then I've been saving up and FINALLY bought one after graduation.
Currently the bodykit on the car is a Prototype "W" Wings West Body Kit.This was one of the first production market testing kits which was hand made and I was promoting it here in southern California.I just had to supply the paint. The car is running on Blitz Type-03 rims.I have the rims on the front 17x8 are smaller than the rims on the rear 18x10 for better understeer control. Also this gives the car more of an aggressive stance.Lowered with Eibach sport springs which lowers the car by only .8".The tires I have on the rims are Yokohama Nexus (which were discontinued but they are great tires but too expensive when they were in production)
I have the Dual K&N Air Filter from Jim Wolf Technologies which does help a lot when you perform a turbo upgrade on this car.The car needs to breathe easier when you have more force induction. When I'm talking about the turbos, I mean larger turbos.I decided to upgrade the turbos to Greddy TD-04H system. The turbo lag on these are not that bad and just kicks in about 4500rpm.Upgraded to the Fuel Injectors to 555cc with the help of RC Engineering. To control the new fuel curve I also needed to upgrade the ECU with a fully reprogrammed ECU from thanks again to Jim Wolf. The upgraded ECU removes the speed limiters, changes the timing a bit, new fuel curve, and raises the red line a bit on the car.More fuel and air being dumped into the car means that I better upgrade the ignition system to be even safer.I went with the HKS twin fire unit and new Denso Iridium spark plugs which are the best! Also when you have the car running on full synthetic fluids which is the only thing I put in this car. From Motor oil to windshield washer fluid (just kidding)
Now for the exhaust system.Exhaust systems are very expensive for this car.I mean you can buy a HKS or Greddy exhaust system for a Civic for about 400~600 dollars or even less than 300 bucks at times! But on this car, you're looking at about near $1000 or more for a nice real name exhaust system. But as for me I got a deal for my Greddy SP exhaust system.Besides that, I also upgraded the system with down pipes and 3" piping all the way to the exhaust muffler.Meaning I have no cats!Night and day difference on a turbo car when you have no bricks to block the flow.
Now for electronics and other small things that also makes the big bang for the buck on this car.Unorthodox UD Pulley I installed on her helps the revs jump up like nothing. Also the pulley is smaller in diameter and lighter since it is made of aluminum this helps free HP.It is claimed by many users it frees up about 18rwhp which is a lot for something this small. The HKS SS blowoff valve makes a more distinct sound from the other blowoff valves in the market today. When the cars hits about 18psi or more, it makes 2 different sounds, but I love the attention it gets when you drive down the road.Everybody goes "WHOA!".The Apexi AVC-R and the SAFC helps controls the desired boost I want from the turbos and also gives me a hugh list of info on what is going on with the car while driving. The SAFC lets me control my fuel curve even more.Of course don't forget since your car is turbo charged you need a turbo timer this is where the Greddy Turbo Timer comes in.
Now with all this stuff attached to the engine and the ECU, you need to know how the car is feeling.I installed an Autometer 30psi Boost Gauge and an Autometer Exhaust Temp.Gauge to tell me if the car is near the threshhold of detonation which is a really bad thing that happens to turbo, supercharged, or even Nitrous fed engines. The AVC-R and the SAFC also help me out on this.
More exterior upgrades include 99 OEM Z emblems,Japanese OEM Clear Corners,PIAA 9006 Low Beam Bulbs,PIAA H3 Fog Light Bulbs,BL Hybrid Clear Corner Bulbs. For the stereo system, the car was fitted with a full Kenwood system.Kenwood 10 disc changer, Kenwood amp.2 10" JBL W6 in an enclosed OBCON box in the rear.I also installed a full PA system for fun.Why go tweet tweet from a car alarm button when you can just yell at people instead!
There are a couple more tweaks I did to the car that are hard to explain but also makes a difference in performance.Hopefully I'm not missing anything else but the next upgrade is a full custom front mount intercooler.Hopefully I should have that soon this year.
