its a re bodied sprint turbo thats been built from a 1991 pontiac firefly shell. its registered as a normal pontiac firefly and is void of all decals except for the steering wheel has turbo sprint embossed into it. it has the factory turbo body kit other then the front bumper (turbo had fog lights) interior is all turbo suspension has been swapped over from a turbo car.
the car is on its 3rd transmission in my hands. the one i bought it with blew the diff cross pin and shot the pin out the side of the case. the second i bought used from a local wrecker and it was a POS, 2nd gear syncro was shot, and 5th gear was screwed, it had a loud high pitched whine when it had any force applied through the 5th gear (found out it wasnt shimmed right and wasnt contacting the other gear properly) ended up blowing the 5th gear while on vacation in the okanogan and got to spend half my vacation on my back, in the burning sun covered in grease, dirt, and tranny fluid swapping it out for another tranny.
the 3rd tranny i put in was from kelowna pick u pull (or whatever they want to be called) the car i pulled it from had 224,000 km on the odo but the tranny looked and shifted fine. got it out and crammed into my car (driving it to kelowna with only 4 gears, with 5th gear rattling around in the end cover, damn that was some high rpm driving, these cars do 100km/h at 3000rpm in 5th, dont even think what they do in only 4th... plus i didnt care about breaking the tranny anymore so i was gunnin her everywhere)
got the tranny all in and its the best yet, i know have 2 transmissions to scavange parts from and am looking at rebuilding one in my garage during my spare time (complete rebuild kit) then i dont have to guess at what transmissions are good and bad at the wreckers...
it now has a boost guage and a/f guage mounted into the center console infront of the shifter (autometer c2's) really set off the interior at night...
its been down the 1/4 mile at a blistering 17.388sec run (damn fast for a stock firefly...) and can only get better as i mod her...
got her some new tires, something a bit wider now (was running 155/70/R13's now running some wide 185/60/R13's) sure i could have went wider but i wanted to stay close to stock rolling diameter to keep the speedo fairly accurate.
running some black steelies right now as the blue rims in the pictures above are half chemically stripped in my garage and im looking into getting them sandblasted and powdercoated black.
car has 2 cadence 12" subs in the back in a sealed box, (its the entire trunk really...) running 500W rms through them from a kenwood amp (not really quality but it got them bumping for now)
running a cheapy JVC deck that the car came with when i bought it. had to rewire it all though, it was all electrical taped connections, its now all soldered and heatshrinked.
needing to put some new rear speakers in and an alarm system as the speakers in it now are crackling and sound like ass. the alarm is because i work in downtown Vancouver and my car isnt that discreet with the guages in plain view and the subs in the back.
