THIS IS ME AND MY RIDE:
Welcome to my page for my 1997 Mustang. I purchased this car looking for a second car, I originally was looking for a car to get me through the winter while i stored my 200sx Nissan for the winter (which my dad and I restored to showroom condition) while looking for a second car my dad encouraged me to check out this mustang at the local chevy dealer where I used to work.
At the time I did not like the 1997 style Mustang very much, so I was not sure about buying a Mustang but I decided to check it out. The car was red with a 3.8L engine and automatic transmission. I looked closer at the car and under the hood was a cold air intake with a set of headers, then I looked at the exhaust system and realized it was done too. The original had been swapped for a duel exhaust with Dynomax mufflers. I opened the trunk and there was a 12" MTX sub and a Rockford amp. The original tape deck had been swapped with a newer CD player.
Once I had seen all the things that had been done to the car I started getting more excited about it. I also remembered how my girlfriend's mom had owned a Mustang at one time and thought it would be fun to pull up in a Mustang at their house.
so I worked out a deal to purchase the Mustang and got it for a really good deal. I was able to purchase the car at the wholesale price.
Well with in the first week of owning the Mustang I was working on the car and found that the air filter on the cold air intake had fallen off, (I did not catch it right away because the filter comes out underneath the front fender) so I drove down to Velocity Motor sports in Morden and purchased a new air filter. On the way home I turned on to the highway and well, there was a lout BANG and the next thing I knew I was on the brakes trying to come to a blind stop. My hood had flipped up and wrapped around my windshield and roof. It must have been quite the sight seeing me come to a stop.
Well I had been excited to show the car to my girlfriend, but by the time she came home from university for the weekend it was not quite the same. She now had to ride in a car that had a crack that ran straight through the windshield on her side and when you got out there were two dents across the roof that mirrored the hood and the hood had a nice line running through the middle of it too. There was one thing positive about this though, I found out that my hood latch was faulty and the insurance covered the repairs. Now I got the paint job for free!
Since I bought the car I have done some work to it too. In the next pages you will see the progress I have made and some of the fun that I have had with it. I hope you enjoy my pages.
