Hello there and thanks for stopping by my page.
I am an active duty millitary, so finding time to work on this is rare. I was into the muscle car phase (still am) an decided to try something new, especialy since I have always wanted a truck . So all this truck resto is new to me, although I had a 67 camaro (rolling chasis, that I built between deployments to Iraq) An as always good things must coem to an end. I stopped haveing fun with the Camaro. After talking to my family about getting a truck, my wife mentioned to me that she liked old school trucks, which surprised me because I have always wanted a 50 something truck. My daughter mentioned to me that it would be cool {she is 6). My 4 year old son told me that he wanted a truck that looked like "Mater".
So when the camaro was sold an a 58 Chevy apache was brought home in late Aug 07, my intent was to replace what needed to be replaced and but in a V-8, fininsh it off with a killer paint job..........
Problem is the more paint I took off the more rust I found.
After all I did say
REPLACE WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
Thanksgiving came and went, I was finally able to get the doors, front end as well as the bed off (it fell off).
after a quick assesment i figured out what i had to replace.
EVERTYTHING
It either had surface rust or the rust was so bad that the metal was so week, I was literally dropping tools through it. After all it is 50 year old east coast truck.
Besides i find it theraputic to de able to do so much at least for now.
