CAR BOUGHT: 08/28/2007

As I already have a car, a 1991 BMW 318is, which is my project car and is now getting painted, I needed a winter beater and a car for my girlfriend to learn to drive in... So I came across this Festiva for $950 and after slight negotiations I bought it for $750! So far it's a blast, I like it a lot and it seems Festivas have a lot of potential too... So who knows what a simple winter beater'll turn out like?

Some pics from when I bought the car:

Here's some rust, but nothing too bad by Quebec standards:

The car is completely stock, waiting to get general maintenance around next week; such as air filter, oil change, fuel filter, belts, colling system flush, distributor cap & rotor, plugs & wires, etc...

UPDATE 09/13/2007

Went to Canadian Tire. Got 3 wipers, Castrol GTX oil, filter, PCV valve, Mobil1 ATF oil, injector cleaner and some kind of liquid engine tune-up which you're supposed to put in the tank and run the car for 10 minutes before changing oil.

UPDATE 09/25/2007

All liquid changed, the engine oil was pitch black so I changed it twice. The current problem is my brakes, because they appear to be completely dead plus my front wheel constantly squeals, especially during braking. :) The parking brake will be repaired soon and what's gonna be left is to figure out why my shifter's so sloppy...

UPDATE 11/22/2007

Well, it's been some time, but Festy's still going strong and I'm very happy with it so far! In these 2 months not much have been done, but I got 2 new calipers, 2 new drums, all new pads and hardware, and I completely cut off the parking cable, so it will never be repaired again lol. Other than that I got floor mats and a steering wheel cover for the winter which came today. ;) I will post pics of the car on winter steelies later.

UPDATE 11/23/2007

Promised winter pics!

The steering wheel cover and the floor mats add so much to this car... ;)

UPDATE 08/04/2008

The car was sold in June for $400 'cause I just didn't feel like fixing it anymore... I still have the BMW and now bought a 2000 Acura Integra SE that I will create a page for! ;)

Not bad for 750! I'm looking for something like that myself to play around with. Good luck with it. You should check out www.fordfestiva.com for ideas.
