I was talking with a co-worker/higher ranking co-worker about my 190e. He also has one. He suggested that I not drive the 190e in the snow. (I am in NY.) OKAY so I got thinking, I put so much $ in that car, and so did Dad and Grandpa. I also had an unexpected accident with a gaurdrail in April with my Dad's 190d. I don't want to have that happen again. Anyway I went on my favorite website; craigslist.org. I searched for a 4x4 truck that could get me through the winter.
I stumbled upon this truck, 20 minutes from my house. It was originally listed for $450. The owner had bought the truck a year ago and had moved to NC. So, he had no need for a plow truck. I told him I had just wanted a truck, no plow. He wasn't going to sell just the truck. I thought about it overnight. I realized this was the truck I was looking for. It can fit all 5 family members, plow my 100ft driveway that I hate to shovel every year, and the optional plow would help pay for the truck itself. The next day I called the # I was given. I scheduled to meet his mother that night. That night (7pm-still was daylight outside) I carefully looked over the truck. It had a new gas tank, and a new radiator installed. Both window motor gears were shot and the windows have been down for almost a year.
They had the title in hand. It fired up for 2 sec on a dead battery and jumppack. I put $50 down on it. As I was leaving someone else stopped in and asked if it had been sold. Wow I thought, just in time! Later in the week I and my father stopped by and tried to start it. We got it running on carb cleaner. The truck ROARED and recieved its name; THE BIG BLACK BEAST. During the next week my father brother and I stopped in to remove the plow, added gas to see if it would start by itself-it didnt-and we removed and brought home the plow. That Thursday night we towed it home. After 2 broken taillights and 2 very dented fenders on the tow dolly, we arrived home. If your wondering what dented the fenders and broke the lights it was the 2 running boards and HUGE TIRES!!! Anyway enough for now. Here are the pictures of it when I 1st SAW IT ON CRAIGSLIST.org!!!

When I got it home IT WAS DIRTY!!! I dont mean dirty as in like some slob had it, I mean dirty as in a slob owned it, and her/his grandchildren or children also used and abused it. IT WAS A ROLLING GARBAGE CAN!!! There were even screws and nails that had rusted themselves INTO the carpet!!! It was toooo disgusting and sick to take pictures of.
I have now cleaned it out and removed the interior due to a minor mouse smell. IT WAS NOT MINOR!!! The mouse nest was a 2ft by 1/2ft by 1/2ft in size!!! The worst part is that mouse that I was looking at infront of me, STARTED MOVING!!! AHHHHH!
After that I decided the interior was coming out.
Ok well, update, it is now going to be resting in peace. This weekend I tore it into little pieces. Yes, I am parting it out. My dad was reading the newspaper and came across the Albany International Airport Garage Sale. I didn't think much of it. My brother, dad, and grandfather went. An hour or so later I got a call saying (from my brother) there is a Bronco down here for sale. The bid is at $550. Do you want us to bid on it? I though and responded "Na, I like my Black Beast." Then 15 minutes or so later, my (Chevy-loving; Ford truck-hating) father called and told me to come down there and see it. He said its so much better than the black one. So I did go to see it, and then bid on it for $825. Check that page for more details.
As for this one...
This was being stripped and I noticed I have a rear sway bar-extra option. The 302 fuel injected engine has been traded with the transmission for a utility trailer. That I sold on craigslist. The other parts were put in boxes and sold with P-9 as extra parts. I parted it out so I can save the title for future customization needs.
