The AMC Pacer.
Coolpacer's 1978 AMC Pacer

From an early age, I saw the potential in this car. My dad is a huge car nut and wanted to start a father-son bonding project 10 years ago when I was 14. The subject needed to be cheap, safe, and fun and the Pacer fit all the criteria. While people thought we were crazy, the end result has certainly made people eat their words and admit that now there is at least one Cool Pacer in the world.

Engine:
This baby is very fast, and has all AMC Power. We recently rebuilt an AMC 401 bored 30 over, 9.7:1 compression KB pistons, mild Engle racing cam, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold with a 750 Demon carb, 3 angle vavle job and port matching on the stock heads, and custom headers going into dual 3" mandrel bent Flowmaster exhaust.

While it hasn't been dynoed yet, the desktop dyno says 400hp and 460 ft/lbs tourque....and boy does it feel like it hit these numbers!
Page 3 documents the engine build.

The A/C is finally recharged and working! We had to end up ditching the old York compressor in favor of the newer Sanden unit. It really cleans things up under the hood, and it's no longer miserable driving the black car in the summer!

You can kind of see the dual 3" exhaust back. It's tucked up there so nicely though, I couldn't be happier!
