Hi and Welcome:
This is my 2006 GMC Canyon, SL extended cab 2 wheel drive. It has the 4 cylinder engine with 4 speed automatic, air conditioning, tilt steering and cruise control . Locking differential with 3:73 ratio and traction control. Bought April 2006, had 12,000 Kilometers on it September 2007, up to 30,000 now.
This is of the build so far.
Added so far:
Scangauge II
Rhino lined the box
Vent visors and hood wind deflector
Tinted the back and side glass black
Class 3 trailer hitch
4 wire and 7 wire trailer plugs
Electric trailer brake controller
Added hand made relay block with 30 amp breakers
Forklift disconnecter with double 0 welding cable for jumpers
Transmission cooler, Hayden
3 inch body kit and gap guards
Air lift rear air bag kit (kit is for a 3500 1 ton dually, adapted for my truck)
16 aluminum Alcoa style rims and 4 Yokohama Geolander AT/S 245/75R 16 inch tires ( 10 ply load rated R )
Red top Optima, Custom battery cable setup, with extra body & engine grounds
Added power door locks, since no external lock on right side, and did not have power option.
Aluminum Mesh Headache Rack
Bell Tech front sway bar, with polyurethane bushings
Bell Tech rear sway bar 1 inch diameter, with polyurethane bushings, brackets
Snow plow add'd, got it used came with a 78 GMC carrying case.
Added front class 3 receiver hitch
Removed 60/40 bench seat, installed power bucket seats, moved electronics to new seats
Added Job box for tool storage
Made a bush bar and installed it, added a pair of lights for snow plowing at night
Relocated the emergency brake cables so the are not hanging under the frame.
The 1 ton air bags required some fitting, but install was reasonable since kit not for my truck.
I ran the air fills for the bags to the back bumper, on left side, so I can use right side for trailer plug.
Custom battery cable setup, with extra body & engine grounds. The less voltage drops over the truck the better and bigger in the right places counts.
Added relay block with 30 amp breakers, for the trailer lighting, backup up lighting (to be added yet) and extra's
Made a radiator, air conditioner condenser, transmission cooler protector using stretched steel cut to fit behind the grill, and painted black. To provide rock protection, turns out does not look bad either.
Added power door locks. The door handle and lock mechanism is cable, had to remove all the internal door parts to look at them. Then turns out, on latch mechanism you can actually squeeze in the bar to link the actuator. Then I mounted the actuator to the bottom of the window slide rail. Tested it and sealed it all back up. Have to admit, this was the luckiest I have been when doing a modification (normally takes way more time, something gets broken and I get cut).
With just body lift in:
The before shot, or the start that is:
My new to me snow plow, works great too, once I added some weight at the back of the box.
The new lights and bush bar are on. I added a little 3000 pound winch to my front receiver hitch so I can get out of those spots I dont wish to be.
