In April 2006 I decided to upgrade the intake while retaining the stock airbox. From the factory the snorkel inlet is in the driver's side fender where it can ingest colder, denser air. Most MAF's use a cone filter placed in the engine bay where they are fed hotter, less dense, air.
This MAF kit was researched and developed in Germany. It uses a Bosch, hot film type MAF. It replaces the stock AFM and contains an integrated computer to perform the AFM -> MAF voltage calculations.

Fully installed

The kit worked as advertised and was truly plug-and-play, no permanent modification necessary , no adjustments to make and no other parts to buy. The driveability is much better. Off idle smoothness is increased as is spooling of the turbo. The car feels like it has an NA engine now. While no as robust as some other MAF's it is a fair trade-off for the ease of installation and ability to use the stock air box and snorkel. It wasn't cheap, but does make the car more enjoyable to drive. The CBV can now clearly be heard opening and dumping air between shifts.
