I got this car back in August of 2006, and have some fun with it so far. First, I had to clean a couple years of dust, bugs, grime and wasps off of it. Then get the carburetor back from the guy who was "rebuilding" it without instructions and what-not.
After about 3 months, a lot of replacements parts, including the carburetor, we got it to work and become a gas-guzzling reliable car.
So MANY little things do not work on it, so thats why I gave up and moved on to a different car. (e-brake, overhead light, turn signals gone, stereo, seats move, etc.)
I really loved this car when I first got it a year ago, but that fact that with a new carburetor it gets only 15 mpg on a good day, I just said "fuck it" and moved on. Bought a bike and another car, but thats a different story...
It has a 20 year-old L20B engine 1952cc, it gets me up serious verts.
This was my very first car I "owned" (with title in moms name), but also my introductory into cars and everything about them. This car really sparked my interest in cars that will definately be life-long.
The car is so basic right now, but later I plan to install an electric engine, with the batteries/super capacitors taking up the back area. I really want to cut off the top and make a one-of-a-kind convertible/electric two-seater out of the car, but that is 20,000 dollars and 20 years away.
So MANY little things do not work on it, so thats why I gave up and moved on to a different car.
Here are a some videos I made involving or about my Datsun 710:
Here are some more pics from when I first got it:
