This was my Aussie Group 2E RX3, I built from the ground up, she was a 808 coupe in poor shape when i picked her up, the old 1600 came out and I fitted a 13B 4 port which was bridgeported by Warrick Massey, 48IDA Weber carb, lightened flywheel, Mazda 121 5 speed trans (closer ratios), RB exhaust, Pirahna ignition, she dynoed at 237 RWHP. car was stripped, has a bare shell passenger seat to comply with class rules, aluminum roll cage, yes aluminum bolt in cages were legal then...lol.
This car was campaigned by me for 5 years of development eventually leading to numerous event wins in motorkhana, sprints and 2 state hillclimb championships. She ran at Phillip Island Vic, Calder Park Vic, Sandown Park Vic, Winton park Vic, Oran park NSW, and Hillclimbed at Mt Leura, Gippsland, Rob Roy and more. she only let me down once when the trans jammed in 3rd at a hillclimb, I ran it in 3rd all the way as just finishing that event won me the state title that year. Toasting the clutch on the way but it was worth it.
I loved her and miss her, but I couldn't transport her to the US when I moved.
