Check out my new toy! I got it because 12mpg is starting to hurt as a daily driver.
It's an '86 honda spree.
The Exhaust is done! I ended up getting a magnaflow stainless tru-x pipe and Goerlich one chambers. The piping is 2.5 all the way back. I'm going to try to get some pictures and some sound clips soon.
This is my 76 Cobra II, i got it a couple of years ago and me and my dad restored it to how you see it now. When i got it had the stock 2.8L V6. We just recently finished swapping in a 85 5.0 HO out of a Mustang. And here's a picture of the front chin spoiler, it doesn't fit right so it is going to have to be cut in the center and then lengthened to fit.
The engine still needs a little cleaning up. The plug wires need moved around for a better fit and look, and the carburetor needs rebuilt badly.
Interior Pictures
The backseat is in great condition aside from slight fading. The front seats where not so lucky, each side has a tear where people have rubbed them getting out. This justifies the bright blue and black seat covers. My dad just bought another Mustang II to restore, and the guy also has a set of original black bucket seats in excellent condition.
The reason I said Another Mustang II is that we have my Cobra II, my dad has a King Cobra, a "running" 2.3L hatchback, the car he just bought, and three parts cars. Then there's also my mom's 67' coupe, and my sister's 89'(?) Convertible.
Under the Car- only two pictures for now, more to come.
This is the header tube that goes under the cross-member. This is just one of those things that Mustang II owners have to deal with. Either you spend $400-600 for the Hooker headers or you lose 2(+) inches of ground clearance. Here is a picture of the temporary exhaust my dad put together with some extra pipe and some flowmasters. When I get the money I'm going to have dual exhaust run all the way to the back with a custom x-pipe or h-pipe and either 10 Series Flowmasters or Borla X-R1 racing mufflers.
Performance
bored .30
torker 289 high rise intake
edelbrock 600 (if a good cleaning and rebuild doesn't make it run better, might change to a holley)
GM style HEI distributor (the guy we got the motor from didn't want to use the duraspark)
Heddmen Longtubes
Magnaflow Stainless Tru-X
Goerlich One Chambers
We also swapped in the 85 T-5 out of the donor car. The first gear is useless because my car came with 3:55 rear gears from the factory, correct me if i'm wrong, but the 85 Mustang came with 2.73s or 3.10s(?). The Fox body didn't have 13" wheels either. Thank God for overdrive!
Might not sound like much but Mustang II's are pretty light, so it pulls pretty good. The car sounds really mean, but really I'm just happy it doesn't sound like an angry bumblebee anymore.
UPDATE 11-14-07: Just found out last night that my transmission is for a Turbo 4 cylinder Fox, which means RARE which means $$$$ for parts. They make all replacement parts except for one bearing retainer, and ours is messed up. Means I'm going to have to buy a new transmission unless we can find a used bearing retainer. If anyone knows if the newer 90's T-5's will bolt to the 85 Bellhousing Please, Please, send me an email or leave me a message about it in my guestbook.
UPDATE: The new rack and pinion is installed. Well part of the way, it's not bolted in yet so that we can get the starter bolted back up and to make sure that it doesn't get hung up when the motor levels out when we reinstall the transmission. Also, I'm including a few pics of a new Ebrake console I bought and the new clutch and pressure plate. I'm going to sand the Ebrake console and repaint it black with a textured spray dye that is close to the original vinyl grain.
UPDATE: I got new carpet for my car for my birthday! I'll post pics when it's installed.
