The car is currently garaged awaiting my return.  Getting:

* APR K04 turbo software

* Bosch 4.0 bar FPR

* Borg Warner (OE) K04-001 Turbocharger

* Eurosport Accessories FMIC

* Labonte Motorsports WAI Controller and Shut-off Solenoid

* Smoked Bumper & Fender Corner Lights

* 42 Draft Design's 3" Cat-back

* USRT TB Spacer with Injector Tap

I removed the rear sway bar, because the end links stripped out.  I haven't sourced replacements yet but will reinstall it when I return.

I also removed the single column pod and will replace the trim panel in order to install a dual column pod.  The pillar pod doesn't provide the best viewing angle IMO.  I want to perform some minor body work inside and out to restore the factory luster.

I've decided on the APR K04 turbocharging kit.  Good to stick with what you know and trust.  I already started to source the parts for this upgrade.

Conversely to my previous setup, I plan get the Eurosport Accessories FMIC and post-TB plate with WAI nozzle adapter.  And because I ruined my AEM controller, I've sourced the Labonte Motorsports MAP-based progressive controller and shut-off solenoid (to keep intake from sucking water).

After cracking the downpipe in May 2009, I received the replacement from 42DD free of charge.  The new one incorporates a reinforcing ring next to the turbo flange.  42DD's customer service rocks!  They really back their product 100%.  I'll be finishing the exhaust up with the 42DD 3" cat-back.

Scope of my build:
Build a daily driven, "street class 1/4-mile" bracket car.  Easy enough and still very reliable. Add a little ICE, all while maintaining the GLI touring design.  I like the Volkswagen design for the 20AE, 337, and the GLI.  They really brought back the definition of "Special Edition" with these versions.

Here are my first and last runs.  They're my quickest so far.  I'm having trouble with my RT's and traction.  It may not be the quickest but it sure is fun in a touring car.

I picked up this '04 GLI four days after I got back from Iraq on leave in the summer of 2007. My wife and I drove 6 hours away to pick it up. You'd be amazed at how many people look at you funny when you tell them that you drove that far to another state to buy a car. They just don’t understand.

I have installed/modded the...
