Every winter for the past four years I've decided to add some stripes to my car. Each spring I have changed my mind. OK, I chickened out.
Not this year.
Tim and his gang at Kieswetter Mazda in my home town helped me lay out the design.

We decided that two 5" stripes highlighted by 1/4" pinstripes were the ticket. But the Mazda "martian" hood emblem had to go.

It was also determined that the best way to do this involved fresh silver paint on all surfaces that were to be striped.

Then the striping began.

Followed by a clear coat.

And voila, I have stripes.

Deep, way down in the paint, classy, shiny stripes.

I wanted something that didn't scream "Look at me" but, rather, had an understated 60ish look, kind of like the Mach 1's, Cobras, and Chevelle SS's of my youth toned down a few notches. I stole from all of them.
