I took a little ride down south recently, about 2200 km (1400 miles), a great top down trip to Florida.
Dropped in on an autocross race sponsored by the Tampa Bay Sunriders Miata Club, fine group of folks who made this Northern Guy feel most welcome. They had 42 cars registered, lots of Miatas, but other cool vehicles as well.

I continued on south and attended the final NASCAR Winston Cup race in Homestead, south of Miami. What a blast that was.

Seeing as how I was in the neighbourhood anyway, me and my 96SC explored the Florida Keys.

Here is a photo I took of my car parked on the beach in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

A typical cold Canadian winter has now set in resulting in terminal boredom - can't drive my roadster.
Last year at this time I cobbled together $6.00 worth of ABS plumbing material and fashioned an air intake (see page 6).
This year I've gone high tech utilizing aluminum and a new air filter.

Its a K&N XSTREAM filter and a 2 1/2" diameter, 45 degree section of pipe. Due to the lack of space in M1's I'm counting on this open-ended style of air filter providing me with sufficient air flow in lieu of a more conventional sized filter. Its still much better than the stock Jackson Racing set-up. While I was at it I re-routed the black rubber bypass hose through my JR strut tower brace and under the new assembly.

Here's how my engine bay looks now (still awaiting delivery of a BR Performance idler pulley upgrade, 62.5mm nose pulley and 255LPH Walbro fuel pump)
