these are hedman shorty headers that are made for a big block in a charger or barracuda. i felt these would be my best choise to use as a bases for my turbo setup.
after pondering many ways to do this, i decided to mount the headers upwards facing fowards. there isnt alot of romm in this car at all. i decided the turbo will sit on the pass side of the car. the headers had to be cut apart and have some tubes remade to work with what i have in mind.
this is the start of the plumbing. merging the 2 pipes into the turbo was a bit tricky and i hope to get it all under the hood, although the turbo is pretty close to the fenders and hood so im not sure if the paint will hold up---we'll see.
again another shot, but now i have the wastegates (dual Tial 38mm units) tacked in place and some of their own exhaust system in place. the big pipe off the turbo is the turbos exhaust and it is 4". it comes out right behind the rt front wheel.
this is an overall shot of what has been done. you can see the pipe that goes from the intercooler to the carb is mostly done with the Tial blow-off valve in place.
finally, an out side shot after almost 2 years. i dragged the unfinished car to our local mopar show to let others see what can be done. mostly the comments were "is this going to work?". i sure hope so but i have a feeling it will work pretty good. the holes in the front fiberglass front bumper were added to feed more air to the intercooler which is a 24x12x3" unit. enough "coolness" to put down 650-700hp
this is the new hood i have been working on. i started out with another flat stock hood, i added 2 NACA style ducts to let the overheated underhood air a place to escape. i also had to add a bulge to cover the carb hat as i couldnt get it under the hood (especially with the NOS plate under the carb that will be there soon). the bulge in case you couldnt tell came in the form of an old motorcycle gastank. all of this stuff will be smoothed out before the new paint goes on.
