On Jan 20th, 2008 I was leaving the downtown co
re of Calgary at around 8:30am after dropping off my fiancee at work. The roads were mildly icy, but nothing extreme in the slightest. At the very last set of lights on that particular stretch of road, I stopped to allow an ambulance (who had his siren and lights going at full blast) to cross through the intersection from my left-hand side. I hit the brakes as soon as I saw him and the car didn't skid or fishtail...I came to a perfect stop without any problems. Then, about ten seconds later, a full-sized City of Calgary transit bus plows right into me, sooting me about 15 feet into the middle of the intersection. He "claims" that he stopped as soon as he saw me hit the brakes, but it was too icy for him to stop properly and he slid about 100 yards. I call BS, but regardless the city claimed responsibility for it.
Then...at the beginning of March of 2008, I was heading into downtown at around 5pm (to pick up my fiancee this time). On the way the
re I was rudely sideswiped on my right hand side by a minivan that suddenly swerved into my lane. I was about to rip the dude's head off when he explained that the city bus that was on his right hand side suddenly swerved into his lane... This isn't the first time I've seen that happen either.
So, needless to say, if you're driving within the Calgary city limits...WATCH OUT FOR OUR IDIOT TRANSIT BUSSES!!!!!!!
