This car was built in mid-August 2006 and I took delivery in October 2006. It is silver gray with black extended leather interior, carbon leather interior trim, premium package, navigation, and heated seats. I have about 6000 miles on it at this time. This is a weekend car for me and I have an E46 as my daily driver.

Planned Mods

My shop has planted the coilover seed in my head, and TC Kline has finally received the real struts from Koni after a 9 month manufacturing wait. At some point I will probably replace the stock shocks and the H&R springs with a TCK coilover kit. I will probably install TCK adjustable camber plates when I do this. The car needs more negative camber in front for autoX.

I also want to replace the stock Conti rubber on my stock wheels with Falken Azenis RT-615. I'll probably go 245/40-18 in front and 255/40-18 on the rear. The car has a tendency to slight understeer and this is about as far as I can go to make the fronts and rears the same size. I'd love to run 255's all around, but I don't think the fronts would fit (and they for sure wouldn't fit on the stock 8" wheels). 245 isn't enough tire on the back for this car.

No engine mods are planned. I may replace the stock exhaust with the one from Supersprint. The sport cans sound good and are by all accounts very livable. Most people I've talked to feel the race cans are too loud and drone badly at highway speeds. I would also probably do the SS x-pipe if I install an exhaust.

I also really like the AC Schnitzer rear diffuser. It's carbon fiber and at $1700, far too expensive. If someone comes up with a fiberglass version, I'd be all over that. There is nothing else I want to do to the exterior of the car though.

I have been autocrossing the car with the local BMW CCA chapter. I am reluctant to track the car as I can't afford to absorb the cost of a trackday accident.
