This is my personal daily driver..It will piss the living hell out of most rotor heads but i dont care..Ive been there done that and your arguments are a waste of time..Yes i had the 13b built before in another car but it was a peice of unreliable junk..No torque and peaky powerband..The current setup runs 10.00s@125 MPH and it hasnt broken in over 100 passes and 10K miles in hard philadelphia traffic..Now in atlanta georgia i am waiting to swap the tags over and finish some new head work trying to get into the 9s..Mostly contruction pics but you can get the jist.. This is a pic of the custom step headers that I hand made myself..Most of the guys that swap in V8s settle for a shorty header..They work fine for most but my LT1 runs on methanol and short headers would kill the power..These long tubes have 1 3/4" tubes wich are 12" long and they lead into 1 7/8" tubes wich are on average 16" long..They feed into 3 1/2" collectors..I had a buddy in Philly build my exhaust wich is a dual 3" setup with two chamber flowmasters..The mounts for the engine i made as well in my old shop after work.. Here you can see the pickup i made for the fuel tank..I went with this setup because the sumps of yesterday are too easy to spot from the back..Plus the EFI tank already has better bafles than a sump would..Its basically a gafted and welded Paxton sump from my old mustang..I trimmed off about a 1/2" from the bottom andthe -10 (5/8") fuel pick and line work great with my SX fuel pump..The return is a -6(3/8") line..Running on methanol i need to supply twice as muce fuel to the engine but i makes more power and runs cooler..On top of that its cheaper in the long run...$2.25 per gallon versus 7.50 a gallon for 166 octane race gas.. These are the aux fuse panels i installed in the passenger kick panel..Behind the panel is teh factory GM Body Control Module or BCM..It controls the Vats for the PCM and also it was retained for the RPA (retain power accy.) wich allows the radio (when i get one) and other power stuff on till i open the door..I used the factory 97 Z28 harness in this swap as it also was installed in my old 81 chevy malibu for a few years..I couldnt make any money with that car anymore and after the pressure plate exploded on teh T56 6 speed i stripped the car and used the parts elsewhere.. I trimmed and gafted the stock 97 F body shifter to work in the console of teh RX7..I saw some crappy pics of guys doing the swaps and aslo finished a conversion on a turbo 2 with a hurst 1/4 stick..I wanted a clean look inside the car without the boy racer look going on..That ment no pillar pods or big old honkin 5" tachs..I modified the factory tach to work and used the mazda senders on the factory gauges..In the ashtray i installed a pro comp oil pressure gauge and a water temp gauge for accurtae readings..After the ashtray was trimmed away and some clearance work on teh floor i can put the tray lid back on with the aid of velcro to hide these gauges from the roaming eye..Later i plan to swap in a T56 by feb and will have the same shifter look when im done..With some welding and floor lowering you could put an aftermarket shifter in place and have the same look..
