***Port and Polish Throttle Body Project***
------------------------------------------------------------------

-Aug. 10, 2005-

Well I decided since I have HP tuners now that I would start a new project and P&P a spare throttle body that I have. It came off a 96 camaro that had roughly 100k miles. Here are some before pics. Notice how black it is at the rear of the throttle body where it meets the upper intake. That butterfly valve was filthy! I can see how not cleaning the throttle body of a high mileage car can effect its performance. Lesson for everyone: clean your tb!

After removing the MAF as well as the butterfly valve it was time to get the carb cleaner out and hit the throttle body with some hardcore cleaning. Here are the results.

Now that it is all cleaned up, it is now time to begin the P&P work. Stay tuned for the results and pics! Then it is time to do some tuning using HP tuners!

Well the porting is done, and now I have begun the sanding process. I started with 220 grit sandpaper and I am almost done with it. I will then be using 400 and finally 1000 to complete the process. Last will be the dremel/buffer with some polish to give it the mirror finish inside.

The inside is completely done and polished up. In all I halfshafted the shaft that was there with the MAF. I removed step down in the back, and grinded down the throttle plate rod to allow more air to flow. I also grinded the screws down to make them low profile and they will not interfere with airflow. I am now working on the outside. Most likely it will be polished unless I get sick of trying to polish it and just paint it, we will see. Here are pics of the inside.

Do you have any videos of your exhaust after the headers? or before and after? I want to buy some for my 98 Firebird. Let me know. 5*'s for all the work you put into your Camaro!

Hey Wuzup. Were the headers worth it and did they make much of a difference?
