Here is My 1955 Chevy Bel Air. It was five years in the making. The car was taken completely off the frame so it could be painted. Also it makes it easier when putting the engine, transmission among other things in before the body goes back on. So I painted everything to make it look clean. The color is custom made of course. It has Corvette red a little candy apple with a touch of pearl to make it sparkle. I put four coats of paint, then five coats of clear. I still wanted a little bit more shine so I wet sanded it and added four more coats of clear.I spent a lot of time trying to find the original parts for my 1955 Chevy. It was pretty damb hard. My wheels are the original Torque Thrust Wheels made by American racing in the early 1960's. Those were really hard to find. Even harder to keep, when I told my buddies in the car club I am in that I finnally found some, everyone wanted to buy them from me. Then when I told them not for sale they would say I got two choices either I could sale them and make some money or they would still them and I wouldn't get nothin.:-) As you can tell I still have them though. When I got this Chevy it didn't have an exaust pipe with it. So, I drew up a pattern and built the header pipes from scratch, that took me quite awhile to do. I did alot of cutting, welding and bending. Then when I thought I was almost done I would get a blow through and have to start over. I finnally got it right though, I only had to start over about three times. As you can tell I am pretty proud of them. If anyone out there has ever built there own header pipes they know how hard it is to do. I got the car as low as I could without the header pipes hitting the ground. As you can tell in the picture they are pretty low to the ground.I also had all of the chrome pieces redipped so they would look brand new.
