This is my 1972 Mercury Montego GT that I purchased in December of 2004.

I just had it stripped down to bare metal, repaired and repainted factory Bright Red. The car was originally yellow. It has a 400 CID V8, 3.25 open rear end axle, C6 automatic (floor shift) transmission, bucket seats, power windows, A/C (working) and is a low mileage car (33k when I purchased it, 43k as of 8/07). I have for the most part finished the car - the interior engine bay needs to be refinished and after that she is done!

Here is the car when I first received it back in December of 2004 - the car came from Pompano Beach, FL and I purchased through an estate sale dealer from the family of the original owner.

The first car show I took the Montego to was the Fab Fords show at Knott's Berry Farm in April of 2005.

So Cal Galaxies all Ford show in June of 2005

Various internal repairs, correct rear bumper brackets, straightened and re-chromed bumpers, various trim, etc. by the La Palma all Merc show in October of 2005.

And in Aug/Sep of 2006 I started disassembling the car to have it stripped and repaired. Here is the car in my drive-way before I took it to the shop. I had obtained a clean hood, front clip, and most exterior trim in better shape or as back-up in case items were damaged at the body shop. Also all weatherstripping and rubber seals were obtained from Dearborn classics and replaced on the car.

Here is the car with most repairs done and in primer.

Here is the new paint (unsanded) on the car.

And complete at the Fab Fords Show in April of 2007 -
