this is my first car and i made sure it was a project i bought this car in April for $350 when i first got it it didn't run so i got a battery some gas and it started the first try but the the gas line started spraying gas because i had accidentally drilled a hole in it when i was fixing holes in the floor we eventually got it running good but it would stall when i tried to move i figured out it was low on tranny fluid so i put more in

i did get to drive it down the road but it was pretty messed up it hesitated but had a nice ride

one time i was driving it after i replaced the tranny fluid i parked the car and tried to start it but it did not start and has been that way ever since i replace at least $700 worth of parts like and injectors and such

i do know the problem now and will fix it

would you please blog me ideas for my car

Hey The door panels for my Z were made by a member of HybridZ.org. To my understanding the 2+2 door skins are slightly different than then 280Z panels. Its worth taking a look to see if there are more available. Good luck Jason

Have you checked to make sure that the relay that stops the car from starting if the auto is anything other then park and neutral is working?

Try this, before puting gas in. Ck the fuel pump intake make sure there isn't any rust blocking fuel pump intake.
2nd, disconnect fuel line from fuel rack intake, (put hose into catch bottle), disconnect the ignition switch wire from starter motor and hit the ignition switch. The ignition switch in start position should engage fuel pump and gas should flow into bottle. If you got fuel there check on return line same way. You described fuel contaiminated with rust particles. I have the same issue and ultimately have had to install an inline filter to prevent clogging of the fuel pump intake. After that ck spark, and a little Sea Foam added to the tank won't hurt either to get the crud out. It took me 2 mths to get mine to fire and a couple of weeks longer to figure out why I could idol but no pwr under load. Felt real stupid when I finally figured it out. Also you didn't mention wether or not you'd change the fuel filter.

Nice Z man! +1 for the 2+2 model! Looks like you have a good car to start with. I notice you from castle rock. I'm from the Springs! I actually drove my z from co. springs to cincinnati ohio! It was a great ride! Thanks for the comments and keep in touch!

First thing I'd do is ditch the auto. I'm sorry xtcee you've been mislead the autos aren't that strong and are extremely power hungry if they are not in prefect condition. They were made in conjunction with mazda at the time from memory.
Autos run flex plates so if you do swap for a manual you want to get a flywheel and clutch kit, hydraluic clutch system with the gearbox (including the master cylinder as they run a hydraulic operated clutch) and pedals. Things like your drive shaft and starter motor don't need to be changed.
I gave this list xtcee on what you can get 6 cylinder L series gearboxes out of. Also you can steal there flywheels and clutches if you want.
R30 Skylines (L24 efi version), Any straight 6 L powered nissan 4x4 (Patrols mostly), late model 240Z (early have a different style box), 260Z coupe/2+2, 280Z coupe/2+2, 280zx coupe/2+2, 240K, 260K. I know in other countries what I call a 240K or 260K is an early model skyline. Thats the short and curlies of it. Nissans are extremely interchangable. Most people where I am get ones out of the 280zx's and R30 skylines. I'm was personnally runnig 280zx with a heavy duty nissan patrol flywheel and clutch.

Dam I go on.
Dude its a good basis for a good project. I'd work out what is a neccessaty in the engine bay and ditch the rest to simplfy it down a bit. They can be made to look very tidy there.
Good luck with it all.
