Subwoofer
There were a lot more choices for subwoofers than for high end speakers, but I wanted
to stick with something that was a solid performer, could handle lots of power and would
work well in a small box. With that in mind, I figured I would stick with the Polk Audio
Signature Reference series subwoofers as well (for many of the same reasons I picked
the components, because I had heard them in a number of installs and I also read some
great reviews that backed up what I hard already heard.
At this point, I'm still in the planning stage (I'm trying to determine if I will be able to fit
2 of the Signature Reference Series 12" subs in my car, and that will determine which
Precision Power amplifiers I will run for the subwoofers.
If I run one subwoofer, the plan is to mount it in the rear quarter panel of the car directly
in front of the driver's side taillight. I will be building an enclosure made out of fiberglass.
If I'm really lucky, I will be able to mount a second subwoofer. On the passenger's side
of the car in a similar enclosure. The passenger's side presents a challenge because
the jack is mounted there so that will have to be relocated to another spot in the car.
