Speaker Abuse Page

Fred Lynch, formally of Image Dynamics sent me some of these pictures. People online like to say "brand X is a piece of junk, I blew mine up very easily". Then the repair guy tears it apart and you wonder if they guy is deaf and dumb.

The first picture is a nice one. The adhesive on the ID Max turns black at something like 400+ degrees F. Also, the voicecoil was rubbing on something inside to the point that all the coating on the voicecoil windings melted off. This should sound horribly to the average idiot, then again if you think about your average idiot, about half of them are even dumber than that.

This bad boy you have to look a little closer for the cause of death. Seems they kept bottoming out the sub on the backplate. Think of the sound a spoon would make again a pot, that type of racket usually is produced when you bottom out. Again, the average idiot should tell himself "hey, this doesn't sound good, maybe I should turn it down", but idiots are way to creative to make anything fully idiot proof.

Last but not least. These guys were a real doozy. Fred had to spend quite a bit of time pulling this bad boy out. Again, this one shares some of the trauma as the one above (voicecoil bottoming out) which lead to the voicecoil coming undone and unwinding.

These were brought over by our JBL rep. JBL does field destruction for warranty (instead of shipping a 40 pound speaker, they destroy it and write down the serial numbers and throw away the parts). This is a JBL 10" GTI sub that was smoked.

Hi, i'm a brazilian guy, noobie in CarDomain.
I need some help, please help me !
Need some information about power suply connectors of a 1995 Ford Taurus GL Stereo CAR Radio Cassete.
I win that from a Ford Taurus owner (he install a new Stereo CD in his car and give me the old radio) but the connector is missing.
Only speakers connector is in its place. Has no power connector, so I'm lost. I don't know the sequence of connections. There is no "red wire and black wire" from inside the stereo car.
I've been thinking and I guess the original power connector looks like Scosche FD02, but i'm not sure. I need that information. What is the correct sequence of connections ?
Here in Brazil is so difficult to find that "Scosche FD02" cause the Ford Taurus is imported from Mexico to Brazil.
Can you help me ?
Thanks in advance. If you can, send me some information in my email address : fgaldiano@hotmail.com

forgive about my poor english, hope you understand.

Fernando Galdiano from Brazil.
